Performance of parthenocarpic and non-parthenocarpic grafts of cucumber

Effect of rootstock on yield and quality cucumber scion was studied at Department Vegetable Science, College Agriculture, Vellayani, Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala during February-May, 2021. Parthenocarpic non-parthenocarpic scions were grafted onto five different cultivated cucurbit species i.e. pumpkin, bottle gourd, oriental pickling melon, culinary melon ash gourd. Significant variations observed for all the traits under this study. The highest vine length (4.37 m) in Heera Lagenaria siceraria followed by Cucurbita moschata (4.13 m). diameter hypocotyl higher case KPCH-1 gourd (1.48 mm) (1.43 mm). (29.33 days) (31 rootstocks showed early female flower initiation. greater number fruits graft combination KPCH- 1 (32) parthenocarpic grafts with pumpkin (30.33) rootstocks. A fruit weight (7.51 kg) (7.38 kg). Results experiment suggest that these combinations can be employed sustainable vegetable cultivation.
